Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By connecting a database, uploading a file, or otherwise using Tukey, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have read and understood these Terms, and agree to be legally bound by them.

2. Description of Service

Tukey is a web-based data profiling and exploratory data analysis tool that allows users to connect to databases, upload files, and connect to Google Sheets for the purpose of generating statistical profiles, visualisations, and analytical summaries. The Service is provided for informational and analytical purposes only.

3. Data Privacy and Handling

We take your data privacy seriously. The following commitments apply to all data you provide to the Service:

• No persistent storage. All data — including uploaded files, Google Sheets content, database query results, and samples — exists only in server memory for the duration of your session. No user data is written to permanent storage or retained after your session ends.
• No access by us. We do not access, view, read, copy, analyse, or share your data for any purpose other than providing the Service to you in your session.
• No third-party sharing. Your data is never sold, transferred, or disclosed to any third party.
• Database credentials. Connection credentials (host, username, password, tokens) are stored only in your encrypted browser session and used solely to establish the database connection you requested. They are never logged to disk.
• Google Sheets. OAuth tokens for Google Sheets remain in your browser only and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. We only receive the spreadsheet data you explicitly select for analysis.
• Your responsibility. You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to connect, upload, or otherwise provide any data you use with the Service.

4. Acceptable Use

You may use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to use the Service in connection with any of the following:

• Weapons and defence. The design, development, production, procurement, or maintenance of weapons systems, munitions, military equipment, or any technology intended to cause physical harm.
• Surveillance and tracking. Mass surveillance systems, unauthorised tracking or monitoring of individuals, facial recognition for law enforcement or population control, or any system designed to surveil people without their knowledge and consent.
• Discriminatory profiling. Any system that profiles, scores, or makes automated decisions about individuals based on protected characteristics including race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin in ways that cause harm or violate applicable law.
• Illegal activities. Any purpose that violates applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
• Harmful or malicious purposes. Any activity designed to harm, harass, defraud, or exploit individuals or groups.
• Unauthorised data. Analysing data that you do not have the legal right to access, process, or transfer.

We reserve the right to determine, at our sole discretion, whether a use case falls within these prohibited categories.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its code, design, features, and documentation, is owned by Shafeen Ahmed and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the Service without express written permission.

Your data remains your property at all times. We claim no ownership over any data you upload or connect to the Service.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

Statistical analyses, visualisations, and summaries generated by the Service are provided for exploratory and informational purposes only. They may contain errors, approximations, or sampling artefacts. You should independently verify any outputs before relying on them.

Nothing produced by the Service constitutes legal, financial, medical, regulatory, or any other form of professional advice. Outputs are analytical summaries of the data you provide and should not be relied upon as a substitute for qualified professional judgement. We expressly disclaim any liability arising from reliance on Service outputs as professional advice.

9. User Responsibilities

By using the Service you represent and warrant that:

• You have the legal right and authority to connect, upload, or otherwise provide all data you use with the Service
• Your use of the Service complies with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
• You will not attempt to circumvent any security measures, access controls, or usage limitations of the Service
• You will not use the Service in any way that could damage, overload, or impair its functionality

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including but not limited to:

• Violation of these Terms
• Conduct that we reasonably believe falls within the prohibited uses in Section 4
• Any use that we determine, at our sole discretion, to be harmful, unethical, or contrary to the spirit of the Service

Termination does not affect any provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination, including Sections 6, 7, and 8.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting the updated Terms with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Illinois.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid under applicable law, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Shafeen Ahmed with respect to the Service and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications relating to the subject matter herein.
